I have, in my life, never understood why people tend to be embarrassed of their homes. Damn we are a majority agriculture based country. Even till today, we are. When you go to villages, castles and such are a common scenery. And THAT is NOT embarrassing in ANY way ! Those are the lands where our parents/grandparents have spent their early lives. So, whom are we trying to be like by being embarrassed? When majority if India lives in such homes, then what is the whole point of feeling less fortunate than anyone else. Just a few good homes that are supposedly lavish , do not add any value to our lives, even if they seem to do so, unless there are people who make it a special “situation “. If you have a lovely and supportive family, then that’s the most important blessing you could ever receive in your life….. and everything comes later.
And yes, be proud of your roots. It’s what holds you firm ! Every ancient home in India is this real. And It is only this youtube/Pinterest world that makes people think they live a life less fortunate…. while forgetting the beautiful blessings we have.
And the people who could be judgemental on this, well – I have nothing to say to you guys. Just be on your “extravagant self ” . But trust me, that adds no value whatsoever to anyone’s life.
