Amazing! I think you should be very proud of what you’ve accomplished. Hopefully, this time next year, I will contact you for your help in designing and counseling me on my shipping container home ๐. Informative and helpful video.
Kassie Dreaneai says
I wish this was a video rather than just pictures. What you are talking about is not always what is on the pictures. I know it is a bit of effort but nice house…… would love to see it with you doing a video.

Doug Chaney says
Why would use GRINDERS for large scale cutting? There are SAW options that cut steel like butter
Robert Palmore says
Your engineer doesn’t know much about cutting steel. The area around the cut that gets hot is called the heat affected zone. Steel is a poor heat conductor. Even though the plasma cutter puts out one hell of a lot more heat than a grinder when compared cutting temperature the time it takes for the cutting process is one hell of a lot shorter for a plasma cutter than a grinder and therefor the heat affected zone is actually smaller. I’ve built portable buildings with containers and the amount of paint pealing (heat affected zone) is less with plasma cutter as opposed to a grinder.

Future ref would be nice if pictures lined up with what they were talking about. Like at 10:47 talking about kitchen but showing under the bed storage in picture, is their another person that interviewed these ppl would love to have seen like a walk through and their real faces

My advice for saving a lot of money is if you have land that has trees on it, you can use the trees for things like making your own custom cabinets and flooring; as long as you know what you’re doing, have time and the tools to do it. I have no idea what the laws are on walls, but if you’re able to substitute wood for drywall, go for it.

I think that it’s so fucking lovely

Love the video, but an actual recorded walkthrough with yall doing a voiceover after editing would be super.

With solar, septic, water, yes indeed $60,000 sounds reasonable.

Pictures don’t even match with what you are saying. Too bad. bye
Greg Wallace says
Sounds like the county gave you guys a bunch of crap, to cost you guys more money to discourage you from building this type of build.
Greg Wallace says
With the footing you guys build, you should have just turned that area into a basement, and doubled your space.
Greg Wallace says
How did you insulate it to avoid condensation?
Wesley Chapman says
Looks like here nm
Lance Roark says
He should have said Sustainable. That would have made the video perfect. That buzz word always works.
Patrick McMahon says
The price was high because the contractors kept pushing you to do the build in an expensive way. The contractor wants you to do the most expensive rout so they can charge you for it. This house could have been built for far less if you did it your self.
Fred Max says
65K WHAT KIND OF CRACK ARE THEY ON?
Deimos Cain says
Sounds like an Expensive NIGHTMARE do to all know Nothing committees you had to beg permission from! No Logic or Reason. Plasma cutter is Less heat than a grinder (over all) thousands Wasted on ridiculous foundation attachments! Your more patient man than Me!
Tzadvantage Bkk says
Really 8 or 9 grinders? I have cut up lots of container steel and am still on the first grinder (4 years), use lots of discs, but grinders? And yeah, a plasma cutter is so much easier and it does not do any more damage to the steel then a grinder. ๐ Sometimes engineers go a bit out of their field i think.
A Wolff says
This is far from a YouTube video more like a collage of pictures with a narrator. You guys suck at videography
Khamomil says
Most people who want to live in a container do it for financial reasons. If it costs almost as much as a regular house it’s because you don’t want to give up any comfort so in order to bring in your amenities you spend a lot. I didn’t get the impression that you gave up anything of your former life.
Mitch says
My girlfriend and I want to do this not just to save money, but see a lot of freedom with it. Did you guys have to buy land?
